How to timeshift

Tips to help you prepare to timeshift for the first time.

See bright light

The timing of light exposure and
light avoidance is key

Light is the most important time cue for shifting your circadian clock, so try your best to follow the light exposure and light avoidance advice.

Avoid light

You can avoid light
anywhere

When Timeshifter suggests avoiding light but you’re outside in the sun or in a brightly lit space, simply wear dark sunglasses.

When Timeshifter suggests you see light when you’re in a dark space, simply turn on any available lights and maximize the brightness on any screen you’re using.

Sleep (or avoid light)

If you can’t sleep, just
stay in the dark

When Timeshifter suggests going to sleep, try to sleep for the full duration. If you are not asleep for the whole time, simply wear a sleep mask or dark sunglasses to stay in the dark.

Follow the Timeshifter advice as much as possible

Follow the advice as
much as possible

You don’t have to follow every advice perfectly, but the closer you stick to the plan, the greater the benefits.
