Powering Nike athletes on soccer's biggest stage
Nike included subscriptions to Timeshifter’s jet lag app in their 2026 World Cup Performance Pack to help Nike-sponsored World Cup teams and players adjust to new time zones quickly.
Playing in the World Cup creates a unique performance challenge. Players arrive from clubs and countries all over the world, crossing multiple time zones just to reach the tournament. Then matches are spread across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. When it's over, some face a long journey home, and even after the World Cup, most players travel between club seasons, internationals, and tournaments.

Any trip crossing time zones disrupts a player’s circadian clock. Circadian clocks regulate nearly every system in our brain and body, including sleep, alertness, performance, mood, immune response, metabolism, and heart, lung, and muscle function. Studies consistently link circadian disruption with impaired reaction time, reduced endurance, poor decision-making and concentration, and increased risk of injury.
At the highest levels of athletic performance, circadian rhythms have always mattered. What's new is the advances in circadian science and Timeshifter's technology to control them – a new competitive edge for athletes.
